Ombre (Ombré) Sombré, Bronde

Ombre is the French word for shadow, and denotes color that’s shaded or graduated in tone. As the names above indicate, there are variations of this shadowing in hair color that are both trending, but also pay tribute to a fundamental axiom in creating natural looking hair color: It’s generally darkest at the scalp and lightest at the ends. The balayage technique of highlighting hair easily lends itself to creating these looks. Ombre looks range from subtle to extreme.
